Supporting Every Titan: Title 1 Program

What Does It Mean to Be a Title I School?
Swigert Middle School is proud to be a Title I school within Colorado Springs School District 11. Title I is a federal program that provides additional funding to schools with higher percentages of students from low-income households. Schools receive this designation based on family income data collected by the state and district, ensuring that resources are directed where they are needed most.
Being a Title I school means Swigert receives extra support to strengthen academic programs, provide targeted interventions, and offer additional services that help all students succeed. These funds may support smaller instructional groups, extended learning opportunities, specialized staff, tutoring, and family engagement activities.
For families, Title I also means being valued partners in their child’s education. Families are encouraged to participate in school decision-making, receive regular communication about student progress, and access resources that support learning at home. At Swigert, we believe every Titan deserves the opportunity to thrive—academically, socially, and emotionally.
