Counseling
Meet the Counselors!
6th Grade Counselor- Ian Hathaway
I’m Ian Hathaway, a former military information/technology person who grew up a nerd. I’m a gamer, a movie goer, and a homebody most days. I love skiing, hiking, and exploring new places! One of my favorite things to collect is pins of all kinds! I’m also your 6th grade counselor this year.
As a counselor I’m here to listen to your problems, your triumphs, your stories and to celebrate your victories or guide you to your solutions. We work with you so you don’t have to do it all alone.
7th Grade Counselor- Sandra Paz
Hi, I’m Sandra Paz, the 7th grade counselor! I feel so lucky to work with the students and families of Jack Swigert Middle School. We have a lot of exciting changes taking place this year and I know we will accomplish great things together. In addition to counseling, I also have a strong background in the military as a Marine Corps veteran (Semper Fi!), I worked several years in hospitality and higher education, and I’m a parent of a middle schooler so I get the inside scoop on that too 😊. I’m originally from Southern California but my parents were both born in Mexico, so I’m lucky enough to speak both Spanish and English fluently (that means I get double the favorite songs, books, and movies). Thank you for taking the time to get to know a little bit about me. I am so happy to be here every single day and I look forward to serving this vibrant community!
Fun fact: I LOVE to run, especially in these beautiful Colorado mountains. On September 22nd, I will run my 11th marathon!
8th Grade Counselor- Caitlin Hernandez
Hello all! My name is Caitlin Hernandez and I am a licensed School Counselor as well as a Licensed Professional Counselor, both for the state of Colorado. Currently, I am the 8th grade counselor at Jack Swigert. I enjoy hiking, going to the movies and eating popcorn, and cooking! Spending time with my family is my favorite thing to do, no matter what we are doing. My husband and I have two sons, aged 11 and 4, and our favorite thing to do as a family is small road trips! One fun fact about me is that I grew up in the Rocky Mountain Region, born in Colorado Springs!
As your counselor, I am here to listen to you, support you, and advocate for you and WITH you. I want to be a champion for you in order to for you to find your voice that will carry you towards future success. Let’s work together to overcome life’s challenges.
