Meet the Swigert Titans Counseling Team
The Swigert Middle School counseling team is here to support our Titans academically, socially, and emotionally. We work closely with students and families to help every student feel supported, confident, and ready to succeed.

Ms. Samantha Royer works with 6th grade students and 7th grade students (last names A–G).

Ms. Shana Mares works with 8th grade students and 7th grade students (last names H–Z).

Hello!
I am excited to welcome you and your child to our school this year. I have a passion for counseling and I am dedicated to creating a positive school environment.
My Experience:
I have worked in clinical counseling for the past 3 years. I have worked in community health, private practice, and a school based setting. This is my first year as a school counselor!
My Education:
I have a bachelor's degree in psychology with a minor of human development and family studies. I have a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling from Bowling Green State University, and I am continuing my education in school counseling at UCCS.

Mi experiencia:
He trabajado en consejería clínica durante los últimos 3 años. He trabajado en salud comunitaria, en consultorios privados y en un entorno escolar. ¡Este es mi primer año como consejera escolar!
Mi educación:
Tengo una licenciatura en psicología con una especialización en desarrollo humano y estudios familiares. Tengo una maestría en consejería clínica de salud mental de la Universidad Estatal de Bowling Green y estoy continuando mi formación en consejería escolar en UCCS.

I am excited to welcome you and your child to our school this year! My name is Ms. Mares, and I am the school counselor for 7th Grade, H-Z students and 8th grade students. This is my first year as a school counselor, and I am happy to be a part of the Swigert team. My goal is to help every student feel supported, empowered, and capable of success.
About Me:
I have a bachelor’s degree in Public Health and am currently completing my master’s degree in School Counseling. I have lived in Colorado Springs for over 15 years and have a strong connection to the community. In my free time, I enjoy reading, walking my dog, and playing video games.

¡Hola! ¡Me emociona darles la bienvenida a usted y a su hijo/a a nuestra escuela este año! Mi nombre es la Sra. Mares, y soy la consejera escolar para los estudiantes de 7.º grado (apellidos de la H a la Z) y de 8.º grado. Este es mi primer año como consejera escolar y estoy feliz de formar parte del equipo de Swigert. Mi objetivo es ayudar a cada estudiante a sentirse apoyado, empoderado y capaz de alcanzar el éxito. Sobre mi:Tengo una licenciatura en Salud Pública y actualmente estoy terminando mi maestría en Orientación Escolar. He vivido en Colorado Springs durante más de 15 años y tengo un fuerte vínculo con la comunidad. En mi tiempo libre, disfruto leyendo, paseando a mi perro y jugando videojuegos.
