Every day counts at Swigert—and when our Titans show up, they soar. Strong attendance helps students build confidence, stay on track, and reach their goals. 

 

Why Attendance Matters 

  • Students who attend regularly perform better in reading and math. 

  • Missing just 2 days a month adds up to chronic absence. 

  • Chronic absence (18+ days a year) significantly impacts academic success. 

  • Good attendance in early grades predicts reading proficiency by 3rd grade. 

  • By middle and high school, attendance is one of the strongest predictors of graduation. 

 

How Families Can Help Titans Show Up Strong 

  • Establish a regular bedtime and morning routine. 

  • Lay out clothes and prepare backpacks the night before. 

  • Send your child to school every day unless they are truly sick. 

  • Avoid vacations or appointments during school hours. 

  • Talk with teachers or counselors if your child feels anxious about school. 

  • Create backup transportation plans with neighbors, family, or friends.
